Rockefeller’s bill to allow president emergency control on the internet

Jay Rockefeller has once again released his revised edition of s.773 bill that would give the President temporary control of private sector networks during a so-called cyber threat or cyber emergency. This is basicly the same issue of net neutrallity , but in a much more disguised light. In this bill, that Jay ( i am sure he won’t care if i call him Jay… or how about ‘jay jay’ ) has so well concieved, he creates a undefined ‘threat’ to our ‘cyber community’ . This undefined term is a ringing red flag similar to that of the undefined term “Terrorism” as it has been so loosly refered to in the past ten years.

This bill, or its diguise rather, is traditional and has its intentions ( if intentions were of any substance now days ). It would allow the goverment, or namely the president ( which dosen’t make anysense either ) to seize private sector networks in the event of a emergency.

Okay, so many questions come to light here. Of course i woulden’t want hackers messing with street lights or taking my medical records… BUT, street lights are controlled by there own networks. these networks often only connect to a city wide network, which is controlled by the traffic and construction departments of that city. in no way could a hacker from Latvia ( or simply, somewhere else in the world ) affect street lights in another state. its impossiple ( not without added hardware, which could be attached to street light equipment ).
Another point, is medical records, or even better, FBI/CIA/NSA records. now, correct me if i am wrong, but if servers inside the Pentagon or any other intellegence agency is connected to the public internet, woulden’t that be ,.. well, dumb!
The fact that the FBI/NSA/CIA all communicate over the most unprotected protocol on the internet ( SMPT, or e-mail ) makes no freaking sense at all. Unless, they are intending for there information to be intercepted. hmmmmmmm

The bill dates Jay like your great grandparent when they try to check there email for the first time. Why are old politicians trying to act like they know how the internet and networking works? They Dont!!! Jay obviously has evil intentions for this bill.

Go ahead and read it ( its only a excerpt ) here

Jena Longo, deputy communications director for the Senate Commerce committee told cnet that the bill does not give the president nor the government ability to shut down the internet. but it dosen’t state that.

We will keep you posted as this bill goes to the house
